Aquanomix’s O’Donnell Contributes to ICC Development of North American Standard for Rainwater Collection Systems

This past February, Vancouver, British Columbia, Aquanomix’s Managing Partner Rob O’Donnell participated in the most recent rounds of meetings as a member of the 18-person joint committee of International Code Council (ICC) and CSA Group assisting in the writing of BSR/CSA/ICC 805-201x Rainwater Collection System Standards.

This standard should prove to be one of the most comprehensive to date in the United States and Canada.

“This standard is exceptionally critical for regions facing water shortages, storm water overflows, and water quality issues,” says O’Donnell. “The ICC and CSA have made great strides in their respective commitments to the advancement of rainwater harvesting, and I am thrilled to be directly involved in the standard development process that will address proper design and installation.”

The ICC/CSA Rainwater Collection Design and Installation Consensus Committee is made up of nine U.S. representatives and nine Canadian representatives who are creating the standard that will ensure the basic safety and performance of rainwater collection systems.

The leading-edge revision to ICC’s 2015 International Plumbing Code contains wide-ranging, non-potable water provisions covering rainwater, gray water and reclaimed water.
